Power 6 .... What's New ...

Straight up .... Take a look at the tread ...

You will notice Michelin's R&D department has been busy because this is a totally fresh design.

And from looking at the tread you would not even think that this is a Michelin Tyre.

With this new tread design, Michelin have now been able to gain 10% more wet grip along with 10% more dry grip.

This can be understood because the Michelin Power 6 has a long tread snipe compaired with it's predercessor the Power 5 which has the small pocket snipes in the tread.

This being said, the new tread design allows the water to travel along and out of the tread snipe and not get trapped.

And, in the dry, the new design allows the tread snipe to become a flex point to maintain maximum grip.

The Michelin Power 6 also has dual compound 2ct + , both front and rear.

This is where the dual compound is made up of one compound that runs right across the tread and a softer compound is placed over the top on both sides of the tyre.  This creates traction & stability due to the continuous layer without a join.

Also, something you may not know, Michelin uses Aramid fibers in the tread face of the Power 6.

You may not have heard of Aramid before ... most people refer it to Kevlar®.  The only difference being, Kevlar® is a brand name licenced by DuPont.

When you use a material like Aramid, this gives you the flexibility an control to change the characteristics of the tyre with pressure, so more air will have a big increase in mileage and less will allow the tyre to flex a whole lot more than a steel belted tyre as Aramid resists getting over temped.

And some BIG NEWS ... the Michelin Power 6 is available for the Ducati Diavel in the 240/45ZR17

Raw Materials:
· A 100% silica compound featuring MICHELIN Silica Technology improves grip in cooler conditions and on damp and wet roads, without any compromise on tyre life.
· MICHELIN 2CT+ (2 Compound Technology) front and rear means that different parts of the tread are optimized for different performance characteristics. The harder under layer of tread rubber maintains rigidity during cornering, whereas the softer upper layer in contact with the road offers very good grip and high mileage in dry and wet conditions.

Architecture:
· MICHELIN Radial X Evo technology – the 90-degree plies on the crown of the tyre ensure a wide footprint giving high grip levels, both in a straight line and at lean angles. The sidewalls of the new generation of Radial X Evo tyres use a special ply fold that provides even more flexibility and greater comfort by absorbing road deformations, and at high speeds the tyre remains stable, making it well-suited to high-powered motorcycles. The overall effect of this technology is that the handling and responsiveness of the tyre are optimized to provide riding pleasure and fun without compromising on safety.
· MICHELIN Aramid Shield technology is a highly dense, more rigid tyre casing, which helps give excellent feedback and handling.  Aramid tread plies resist centrifugal growth at speed, reduce weight and provide excellent stability.
